Know What You're Dealing With
Both are native Australian animals and both are protected by Victorian law. Working out which one has moved in lets us tailor the removal and get it done quicker.
Species 01 - Most Common
Roughly cat-sized, thick-set and silver-grey, the Brushtail is a stubborn tenant — once it claims your roof, it won't budge without a firm nudge. These possums are fiercely territorial, prefer to live alone, and do all their moving about between dusk and dawn.
Species 02 - Also Very Common
Daintier, softer-sounding, and easily mistaken for a rat at first glance. Unlike the Brushtail, Ringtails are sociable and live in family groups — so one in the roof usually means a few. They weave nests (called dreys) out of bark and leaves, often tucked into wall cavities or thick insulation.

Victorian Wildlife Law
Taking possum removal into your own hands rarely works — and it can put you on the wrong side of the law. The Wildlife Act 1975 (Vic), along with the federal EPBC Act 1999, protects every native possum. Harming, catching, or moving one without the right permit counts as a criminal offence.
Deliberately killing, poisoning, or injuring a possum is a serious breach of the Wildlife Act 1975, and it can bring hefty fines and even prosecution.
Even where trapping is permitted, Victorian law says the possum must be let go within 50 metres of where it was caught, on the same property. Dropping it anywhere else is against the law.
You can't trap or handle a Ringtail at all without an Authority to Control Wildlife (ATC) permit granted by DEECA.
The lawful and lasting approach is to fit one-way exit devices so the possum can leave, then seal every gap so it can't get back in — and that's precisely what we do on every job.

We rely on one-way exit doors and gentle exclusion — no trapping, no stress, no injuries. The possum simply makes its own way out, completely unharmed.
We stick firmly to Victorian law, releasing possums on your property inside the required 50-metre radius. No dumping them elsewhere, no unlawful off-site drops.
Getting the possum out is only half the job. We close off every entry point, set up deterrents, and hand over a before-and-after report — so the problem doesn't come back.
We photograph every stage — entry points, fitted doors, and sealed areas — and send it all to you by WhatsApp or email the same day.
